Researchers from RPI conducted scientific studies at YTU

[25.07.2025]

In June-July 2025, Senior Researcher Dr. Rena Khankishiyeva (PhD in Chemistry) from the "Laboratory of Radiation Chemistry and Technology of Polymers", and Leading Researcher Dr. Haji Vahid Akhundzadeh (PhD in Chemistry) from the "Laboratory of Radiation Chemistry of Heterogeneous Processes" of the Institute of Radiation Problems of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, carried out scientific research at Yildiz Technical University (YTU) in Istanbul, Turkey, as part of a 30-day scientific mission.

The visit was conducted within the framework of the projects "Biodegradable polymer composites: preparation, properties and study of degradation characteristics" and "Preparation of heat-resistant materials based on butadiene-nitrile rubber (NBR)" which were awarded the 14th "Mobility Grant" competition (AEF-MOB-14-2025-4(57)) by the Azerbaijan Science Foundation.

The primary goal of the projects was to develop materials that are both environmentally sustainable and industrially applicable.

Additionly, during the business trip, joint research opportunities to enhance the properties of asphalt bitumen were discussed with Dr. Mustafa Sinan Yardım, associate professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, YTU.

It should be noted that a joint scientific article is currently being prepared on the topic "Synthesis and characterization of a new bitumen additive to improve the performance of asphalt based on waste oils."
