The event commenced with an opening address by the Acting Director of the Institute, Professor Elchin Huseynov, who extended his greetings to the attendees and congratulated the institute’s staff on these important occasions, which hold a special place in the history of our nation.

The event began with the participants standing for the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In his speech, Professor Elchin Huseynov stated that May 28 – Independence Day is one of the most glorious milestones in the centuries-old history of Azerbaijani statehood. He noted that the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, established in 1918, entered history as the first parliamentary democratic republic in the Muslim East and played a pivotal role in the development of national statehood traditions. Professor Huseynov emphasized that the Azerbaijani people have always remained committed to the ideals of independence, preserving their statehood traditions and ultimately achieving the establishment of a strong, modern, and independent Azerbaijan.

During the speech, special emphasis was placed on the exceptional role of the statehood strategy formulated by National Leader Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan’s development. It was noted that, under the successful leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has further strengthened its position within the international community and achieved significant progress in the fields of science, education, and innovation.

The Director also spoke about the spiritual significance of the holy Eid al-Adha. He noted that Eid al-Adha is one of the most sacred holidays, promoting such noble values as compassion, unity, solidarity, and generosity. Emphasizing that the Azerbaijani people have remained faithful to their national and spiritual values for centuries, Professor Elchin Huseynov highlighted that the traditions of tolerance, mutual respect, and humanism continue to be upheld and nurtured at a high level in our country.

During the event, the Institute’s employees, Doctor of Sciences Tarana Nurubeyli and Research Fellow Bayram Khudayarov, delivered speeches highlighting the achievements of independent Azerbaijan and the efforts undertaken to advance science and education in the country.
