Training Seminar on Strategic Development and Grant Opportunities Held at the Institute of Physics
On 8 July 2026, the International Collaboration Sector of the Institute of Physics, a Public Legal Entity under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, organized a training seminar entitled "Roadmap for Achieving Strategic Objectives and an Overview of Scientific Grant and Funding Opportunities.
Opening the seminar, the Head of the International Collaboration Sector, Kuba Mehdiyeva, welcomed the participants and emphasized that, in today's rapidly evolving scientific landscape, the successful advancement of research depends not only on the quality of scientific investigations but also on effective strategic planning, the efficient use of grant opportunities, and the ability to collaborate with international funding organizations. She noted that the training seminar was of great importance for every researcher, as it aimed to strengthen these essential competencies.
The seminar continued with a presentation delivered by the Sector’s Chief Specialist, PhD in Physics Rustam Rustamov, and Specialist Aynur Rasulova. They provided a comprehensive overview of the Institute’s Strategic Development Framework for 2026–2028, outlining the key stages of the roadmap for achieving the Institute’s strategic objectives. The presentation also covered the commercialization of scientific research, mechanisms for translating research outcomes into practical applications, principles of grant proposal development, national and international grant programs, funding resources, partnership opportunities, and the available mechanisms for financing scientific research projects. In addition, the speakers highlighted issues related to strengthening the Institute’s institutional capacity, developing a comprehensive research database, analyzing strategic activities, and identifying priorities for future development.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the participants engaged in a comprehensive exchange of views on the topics discussed. Their questions were addressed in detail, and productive discussions were held on the preparation of grant proposals, expanding international collaboration opportunities, and the implementation of future initiatives aimed at advancing the Institute’s strategic development.
