The Institute of Physics hosted a scientific seminar dedicated to World Quantum Day
On April 15, 2026, a scientific seminar dedicated to World Quantum Day was held at the Institute of Physics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The seminar was opened by the Institute’s Scientific Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Nuruyev, PhD, who introduced the topic of the seminar and then gave the floor to the speaker.
At the seminar, the Head of the “Theoretical Physics and Quantum Informatics” Laboratory at the Institute of Physics, Doctor of Physical Sciences Elchin Iman oglu Jafarov, delivered a presentation titled “Light Absorption in Asymmetric GaAs Quantum Wells.”
In his speech, the scientist discussed the role of quantum physics in modern science, its fundamental principles, and rapidly developing areas of application. He particularly emphasized the future impact of quantum technologies—such as quantum computing, quantum communication, and quantum materials—on industry and information technologies.
World Quantum Day is an international initiative celebrated annually to raise awareness of the importance of quantum science and technologies. It is observed each year in many countries around the world.
The report was met with considerable interest by the participants, prompting extensive discussions, and the questions raised were addressed in detail by the speaker.
